yes you should use a finishing powder over your mineral foundation. The reason being is the finishing powder sets your mineral foundation in place. Also, if throughout the day your skin get a little shiny/oily or if it gets humid outside, instead of piling on more of the foundation , you can just brush on the finishing powder to reset your whole look. The difference between a finishing powder and a translucent powder is that finishing powder is something that goes over your foundation to set your makeup in place and can be reapplied without looking ';cakey';. I use bare escentuals mineral foundation and they sell mineral veil which is a finishing powder. I like to use them both. If I were you, I would try to find a mineral finishing powder, I think it would defeat the purpose of using the mineral foundation if you don't. I don't think that there is a difference in finishing powder and translucent powder. But make sure you get one with no color in it like the mineral veil.
I use bare escentuals also and have never used the finishing powder...i love the healthy glow it gives and also i have never needed to as the make up is set all day long and stays fresh and on my face lol.
i think they are one in the same. they are meant to keep your makeup in place and ';set'; it. you can use it if you have a long day, it'll help your makeup last longer so you don't have to touch up so often.
